Big Things Are Coming

If you missed Sunday’s incredible Skills Training, you also missed 2 very exciting opportunities coming up. I wanted to make sure you did not miss out, so here they are:

#1 On March 7th, we begin a sermon series on Luke 15.  As many of you know, Luke 15 is all about the lost coin, the lost sheep, and then ends with the lost son (or what is called the prodigal son).  There are 2 things that make me excited about this. 

  • First, Tim Keller just wrote an awesome book called the Prodigal God and then coupled it with a DVD and Study guide. 
  • Second, Sam Ingrassia is coming on March 14th to discuss prodigal relationships. We will also be offering special opportunities to discuss how to deal with a prodigal child or painful situation.   

As such, we would love to see ALL THE SMALL GROUPS go through the Prodigal God materials from March 7th until After East (6 weeks).  It will be great because it relates to the sermon and there will be many people motivated by Sam’s talk to join a group who is discussing Luke 15, so this is a great chance to invite new people into your group. There are two ways you can participate. 

  • You can choose to follow along with the sermon questions provided on the web,
  • or you can tell me in the next 2 weeks your group is committed to do this and I will purchase the DVD and study guides for your entire group.  It’s that easy. 

#2 After much discussion and feedback, we have decided to do Common Ground again next year. The dates will be Sept 12th until Oct 17th (6 weeks). The topic we are toying with is idolatry.  The basic concept being that we all need to rid stuff in our lives, idols, that keep us from experience freedom, joy, and the only hope that matters, Jesus Christ.  We are still very early on in this topic and we WANT YOUR FINGERPRINTS on this.  So please, if you would like to get involved in the planning stage, maybe write some devotionals or do some research for us in curriculum, let me know ASAP.  We should nail down the topic and what we are doing within the next month.
