Children

Imagine a church where Jesus is real to kids. A place that is so exciting and fun that kids can’t wait to get there. A place where learning is fun and interactive, relationships are intentional and the Bible comes alive. A place completely safe. A place where kids see Jesus through the adults and teens who care for and pray for them.

That is the place that children’s ministries at the Chapel is becoming. Join us as we go on the journey of helping kids discover Jesus and his plan for them. This is the journey of helping them to become passionate followers of Jesus who live out their faith by worshipping God, reading his word, doing his work, showing love and sharing Jesus with others.

In children’s ministries at the Chapel, we have many opportunities for kids to hear about Jesus. Below are the main areas of ministry.

Sunday Early Childhood Ministry
The ministry for kids from Infants through 3 years old on Sundays during the 9:00, 10:15 and 11:30 am services. In all classes, children learn about Jesus through the love of the volunteers who care for them. In addition, in the 2’s and 3’s classes, the children are taught Bible stories and songs that introduce them to Jesus.

Sunday Elementary Ministry
The ministry for kids from Pre-K through 3rd grade on Sundays at 9:00 am and Pre-K through 5th grade on Sundays during the 10:15 and 11:30 am services. During the 9 am service, Chapel Kids Camp offers fun and relaxed combined classes for Pre-K and Kindergarten and 1st-3rd grade. During the 10:15 service, there is a Large group time in these classes where the Bible is presented in creative ways by enthusiastic teachers. There is also a small group time where the kids divide up into smaller groups for crafts, application of the Bible lesson, and the chance to connect with their peers and a volunteer leader. During the 11:30 service, the kids are taught the Bible in creative ways through caring, passionate volunteers in a smaller setting.

Childcare Ministry
The ministry for kids Infants-Kindergarten offered for certain, Chapel-wide special events.

Pioneer Girls
This weekly ministry is a Christian club that girls in grades 1-8 can join to develop meaningful relationships, learn about God, and get to know God Himself in a deeper and more exciting way.

Seasonal Events
The Easter Eggstravaganza and summer Vacation Bible School are the main children’s outreach events at the Chapel. They are volunteer powered, fun and meaningful events. Check the web calendar for dates for these yearly events.

Volunteers in Children’s Ministries
In all areas of children’s ministries at the Chapel, kids are in safe, age-appropriate rooms with volunteers who have completed a thorough application process that includes child abuse clearance and background checks as well as safety training.

Well Child Policy

To protect the health and safety of the children in our classes and the volunteers who care for them, it is imperative that you keep sick children at home. If you observe any of the following symptoms in your child, please keep them at home.

Fever

Stomachache, vomiting or diarrhea

Green or yellow runny nose

Excessive coughing

Questionable rash

Discharge in or around the eyes

Unusual fatigue or irritability

When in doubt, please keep them out. Thank you!

If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, they should have received treatment at least 24 hours before coming to class. The CDC states that children sick with H1N1 (Swine flu) should stay at home until they have been without fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications. Of course, we know you'll follow your doctor's recommendation for when to return to church following other illnesses. We are reminding the volunteers in the rooms caring for your children to do the same. If your child is sick, please let us know about illnesses like H1N1 or other flu, and even lice, as we can help to take extra precautions against the spread of such conditions/infections in the rooms. You can call the Chapel office and leave a message with Children's Ministries (Bekah Potter’s voicemail ext. 225) to report this as well as which room(s) your child has been in, and we'll appreciate it. Our volunteers have been encouraged to notify you as soon as possible if your child appears to become sick while in our care.
