Disaster Relief

Oct 07, 2009 | David Fuquay

As you have probably all heard in the news, the Philippines have recently been devastated by a typhoon.  Jacksonville Chapel supports missionaries in that area and has personal connections with the people who live there.  We want to join together with other local churches and offer immediate relief to those who are hurting, lost everything, and need to know others care about them.  Below is a detailed explanation of what needs we can meet.  We will be collecting the following items at each of our campuses beginning THIS SUNDAY and continuing on until October 18th. If you can provide any help, please be a part of this ministry to others.

Hello all -

I'm sure many of you have heard of the devastating news about the horrible, deadly storms and floods in the Philippines.  This has really hit home for us since many of our own friends and relatives were very much affected to the point that many of them have lost everything - including their homes!  Our small group has decided to extend immediate help by sending basic necessities and monetary donations so they can rebuild their lives slowly but surely - but our group can only do so much.

Our hearts go out the most to those VERY POOR families who do not have the resources to replace what they’ve lost.  In fact, there is so much poverty to begin with that even the basic necessities that we often take for granted here in the US will be difficult for them to replace. That said, we have partnered with Bible Church International, a Filipino Church in Randolph, NJ as well as 3 local churches in the Philippines to expand our efforts beyond our friends and families.

We are hoping that you would partner with us to raise the following ON OR BEFORE SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 :

  • New or used clothing and shoes (appropriate for warm climate)
  • New or used bedding
  • New or used towels
  • Toiletries - soap, toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrush, etc
  • Over the counter medicines and basic medical supplies (Tylenol, cold/cough medicine, bandages, first aid kits, etc)
  • Canned Goods and other non-perishable food items
  • Minimal monetary donations - specifically to cover shipping costs

If the Lord leads you to help in this effort, please drop off your donations at:

 Jacksonville Chapel

264 Jacksonville Rd

Lincoln Park, NJ

If you choose to donate monetarily, please make your checks payable to "Bible Church International" and mail to

 Ron and Christine Sakdalan

50 Maple Avenue

Pine Brook, NJ 07058

Thank you in advance for your help!  God Bless you.

To all -

Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless the hearts of each and everyone who donated today! Moreso, we thank the Leadership and Chapel Staff for your willingness to help in this endeavor. Your immediate support made all this possible!

We had an awesome response from the Chapel family as evidenced by the piles of donated items that filled a 16-passenger van! It was such a blessing and privilege to witness how much our church showed care and compassion for those in need. People who didn't have an opportunity to donate today came up and asked if there would be more opportunities next week! What a blessing!

In any case, we thank you again! We will make sure to send updates/photographs of families who benefited from the generosity of Jacksonville Chapel!

Blessings,

Ron and Christine
